Miami Beats Duke On Absurd Lateral-Filled Kick Return

Did that really happen?

Miami beat Duke 30-27 Saturday night on a ridiculous game-winning kickoff return that featured eight laterals and just all around chaos on the field.

Miami appeared to have been moving backwards after the first seven laterals, but on the eighth, Miami cornerback Corn Elder caught the ball from his own nine yard line and ran 91 yards.

In the stats, it was a 75-yard return, but they ended up covering much more of the field than that.

During Elder's scamper to the end zone, there was a block delivered that was originally ruled a block in the back and would have negated the touchdown. The officials reviewed the play and overturned that call.

The Hurricanes' football Twitter account had the most appropriate response to that final play.

UPDATE: Nov. 1 -- The ACC has announced they have suspended the entire crew of officials from Saturday's Miami-Duke matchup for two games after the "series of errors" they made on that insane kick return.
