Michael Bennet On Lame Duck Session: 'It's All Rigged'

C-SPAN Microphone Catches Bennet Lamenting Lame Duck Session; 'It's All Rigged'

Colorado Senator Michael Bennet was caught by a C-SPAN microphone on Tuesday lamenting what he referred to as a "rigged" lame duck Senate process.

"It's all rigged," Bennet is heard telling another Senator, thought to be Minnesota's Amy Klobuchar. "I mean, the whole conversation is rigged... The fact that we don't get to conversation before the break about what we're gonna do in the lame duck... It's just rigged."

The conversation was recorded shortly after the Senate rejected an effort to eliminate earmarks for at least three years.

Asked by MSNBC to clarify Bennet's remarks, aide Adam Bozzi said: "For almost two years, he [Bennet] has talked about needing to fix a broken Washington. We can't move forward on major issues facing our country because of a broken system that is rigged to prevent progress."
