Michael Dunn Juror Wanted To Convict Him Of Murder In 'Loud Music' Killing

Loud Music Killing Juror Speaks Out

A member of the jury that convicted Michael Dunn says the 47-year-old man who killed an unarmed 17-year-old should have been found guilty of murder.

The juror, who asked to be identified as "Valerie" in an exclusive interview on ABC, said the jury ultimately could not agree on whether Dunn acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Jordan Davis and fired at a car full of his friends.

"It said if he believed that he had an imminent threat to himself or his fiance, so that was a thing that those two folks believed – he was frightened and there was no other option for him in regards to Mr. Davis," Valerie said, referencing the jury instructions. "The rest of us were 100 percent sure, you didn't have to react [with gunfire], you could have had another option."

As for what those options were, Valerie told ABC, "Roll your window up. Ignore the taunting. Put your car in reverse. Back up to the front of the store. Move one parking spot over. That's my feeling."

Ultimately, three jurors believed Dunn acted in self-defense, according to Valerie. The jury found Dunn guilty of three counts of second-degree attempted murder. They were hung on the murder charge and prosecutors may re-try Dunn on that count.

Davis' parents also spoke with ABC's Good Morning America about the verdict.

"We know that the jurors were posed with a very delicate and a very profound decision that they had to make, and we believe absolutely with all of our hearts that they did everything they could to come to what they believe was the most just decision," Davis' mother, Lucia McBath said. "We do now know that they were torn. But they've done the best that they can with the tools that they had at that time, and of course each one of them believes what they believe and so that's what we have to stand on."
