Experiencing Michael Franti live is always a very spiritual ritual. Sometimes I get emotional, but it never fails -- I always walk away from a Michael Franti show wanting to be a better person. If you have never seen him live I highly recommend it. His shows are probably the best live shows I have ever attended. Go, go today! Take the kids, take your 90-year-old Grandma, but just make sure to go. You won't be bored: You will be electrified, your life purpose will surface, your faith in the goodness of life will be restored, and you will walk away a better person.
I recently had the oppurtunity of meeting and interviewing Michael, and wow -- how powerful! His soul shines even brighter up close. This meeting took place at the Life is Good Festival in Canton, Mass. I decided beforehand to suggest that my 8-year-old daughter, Topanga, conduct the interview. I know his love of children, so I knew he would connect with her.
When you watch the video, notice first of all how he comforts a nervous child just with his presence and also see how he takes the opportunity with each and every word he utters to inspire this little girl to take note of the good things in life. Reminding her that eating healthy stuff is cool, doing what you love to do in life is the way to go, spending time with family is good, and that learning about less fortunate kids is important.
