Hero Sports Anchor Drinks Pain Away On-Air After Caps' Season Ends

"Got a message for all you kids out there ... Give up on your dreams."

As we have said time and time again, sports, like life, is pain, and sometimes the only thing you can do to quell that there pain is take to the bottle.

Such was life for CSN SportsNet Central's Michael Jenkins after the Washington Capitals were ousted from the NHL playoffs by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night. There was nothing else to do. Not much else to say. In such times, we can only do our best to cope.

"Y'guys hear about the Caps? No? You like to drink?" Jenkins asked during a broadcast with a look that must have frightened at least one person in the room. Conviction in his eye, he looked down, reached to his left and pulled up a nice tall glass of what we're just going to believe was a real stiff drink.

"I like to drink, and I'm going to drink the whole show. Let's check out the, uh, highlights from Pittsburgh," he said.

Later, Jenkins had some knowledge to impart on the future leaders of this great country: "Got a message for all you kids out there," he said with a look in his eyes that is best left undescribed here. "When everyone says, 'Oh, you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it,' it's all one big lie. Caps were supposed to win it all this season. They put their minds to it. Look what happened: crushing disappoint. So, give up on your dreams."

Amen. He later chugged while discussing the Golden State Warriors.
