Michael Jordan 1987 Dunk Contest Anniversary (VIDEO)

Flashback: Air Jordan's First Dunk Contest Win

Whether or not LeBron James ever actually participates, the NBA's annual slam dunk contest just isn't what it used to be.

In honor of the contest's glory days, we'd like to recognize the 26-year anniversary of Michael Jordan's first dunk crown.

Having finished second in 1985 to Dominique Wilkins, Jordan made his second dunk contest appearance in 1987 when All-Star weekend took place in Seattle. With Nique sidelined due to injury, Jordan found himself matching slams with Jerome Kersey as the contest advanced. With a slew of classic dunks, including another iteration of Julius Erving's famous free throw line launch (Jordan had also done this in the '85 contest and would again use it in 1988), Jordan took home the trophy.

Those were the days.
