Michael Stipe And Stephen Colbert Sing 'End Of The YEAR As We Know It'

But who feels fine?

Given the mess that 2016 was for many of us, maybe this spoof of R.E.M.’s “It’s The End Of The World” could replace “Auld Lang Syne” on New Year’s Eve.

Stephen Colbert sang the tweaked chorus, “It’s the end of the year as we know it” ― with former R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe at his side on Thursday. The “Late Show” host speeds through a patter of the year’s bad news, from Zika virus to Harambe the gorilla to you-know-who.

The gimmick is that Stipe refuses to join in and say he feels “fine.” But after some prodding by Colbert, the 56-year-old singer finally joins in.

Here’s to a better 2017, fellas.
