Man With A Knife Arrested At ABC, Wanted To 'Kill Michael Strahan'

Man Arrested After Making Threats To Michael Strahan

A man went to ABC's studios in New York City on Tuesday threatening to kill host Michael Strahan.

The New York Post reported that police swiftly arrested Andre Johnson after he pulled out a knife and made threats about Strahan to an officer. Johnson later told police, "I was there to kill Michael Strahan."

The incident happened outside the set of "Good Morning America" in Times Square, but most of the audience was reportedly not aware of what happened. The Post said that Strahan himself didn't find out until later that day.

Strahan hosts "Live!" with Kelly Ripa and joined "Good Morning America" as a part-time correspondent in April. He retired from the New York Giants in 2008.

It's not the first time that security has had to leap into action during a morning show. In 2013, the "Today" plaza was evacuated after a man attempted to hurt himself with a knife. No one else was injured. A man also once jumped the barricade separating fans from the "Today" hosts, reportedly shouting that he was "God's gift to music."
