Michaela 'Mickey' Shunick Vigil: Hundreds Gather To Support Missing Louisiana Woman

Vigil Held For Missing Louisiana Student

Supporters of a Louisiana college student who went missing four days ago gathered Tuesday night to pray for her safe return.

The vigil for Michaela "Mickey" Shunick assembled hundreds of concerned friends and family in Lafayette. The 22-year-old anthropology major at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette was last seen riding a bicycle around 2:00 a.m. on May 19, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Louisiana State Police have joined the investigation, which police say will intensify during the coming days, according to ABC News.

"A lot of people have been saying the same thing," longtime friend Lindsay Beggs recently told The Huffington Post. "We feel strongly that she's alive and that we're going to find her. We are extremely hopeful."

The Shunick family first grew concerned when Mickey did not attend her brother's graduation ceremony on Saturday morning.

A tireless internet and social media campaign continues to aid the search for Shunick, CBS News points out.

She is described as a white female, blonde hair, just over five feet tall and 115 pounds.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Shunick's recovery. Anyone with information on Shunick's disappearance is encouraged to call the Lafayette Police tip line at 337-291-8633.
