Michele Bachmann Compared To Terrell Owens By Jon Runyan: Reports

Michele Bachmann Like Terrell Owens?

U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan (R-N.J.), a former offensive tackle in the NFL who was elected to Congress last year, likened the actions of "some" of his conservative colleagues to those of pro-football player Terrell Owens, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Runyan reportedly made the comparison during a closed-door House Republican Conference meeting in April. According to Politico, several GOP lawmakers "called out" Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) for criticizing a federal budget deal reached to prevent a government shutdown during the session. House Speaker John Boehner played a key role in achieving the agreement with Democrats.

The Times reports that Bachmann said she didn't take a criticism from Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) personally. A member who attended the meeting, however, told the Times that Foxx told Bachmann, "You should."

Runyan and Owens played together on the Philadelphia Eagles for a brief period several years ago. Owens has made headlines for ruffling feathers with his teammates and for demonstrating questionable behavior on the field.

UPDATE: Owens took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon and signaled he takes Runyan's remarks as a compliment and that he's "very flattered." He also wrote, "Maybe I should run 4 President!! Lol!"
