'The Building Is On Fire!': Woman's Epic Retelling Of Apartment Blaze Goes Viral

A woman who escaped a fire in her Tulsa, Oklahoma apartment building has become a viral sensation this week thanks to her dramatic retelling of the harrowing event.

“[My neighbor] said, ‘The building is on fire!’ I said, ‘no what?!’ I got my three kids and we bounced out,” resident Michelle Dobyne told News on 6 on Sunday, her voice rising and falling expressively. “Nuh-uh, we ain't gonna be in no fire -- not today.”

Dobyne’s animated interview has spread like wildfire this week, racking up more than 3 million views on YouTube to date. Watch it for yourself above.

Sunday’s fire left more than 100 people without power or heat at the apartment complex, News on 6 reports; but many residents, like Dobyne, took the unfortunate event in stride.

“Well, I'm trying to be cheerful about it,” Wendell Clark told the news outlet. “I’m gonna stick it out … I'm gonna stay at my apartment.”

Dobyne’s interview, which has already undergone the auto-tune treatment, is reminiscent of a 2012 viral video that also features an Oklahoma woman after an apartment fire. That video, featuring Kimberly “Sweet Brown” Wilkins, became famous for the woman's catchphrase “Ain’t nobody got time for that.
