Democrat Michelle Nunn Uses George Bush In First Georgia Senate TV Ad

WASHINGTON -- Michelle Nunn, a Democrat running in the Georgia Senate race, released her first ad today, and it features none other than former Republican President George H.W. Bush.

Those who know Nunn probably aren't surprised by the spot. Nunn is the CEO of the Points of Light foundation, the nonprofit that Bush founded (though she's taking a leave of absence for the race). Bush remains an honorary chairman of the foundation, and his son, Neil, is the current chairman.

While Democrats don't usually highlight ties to prominent Republicans (Nunn also has endorsements from two Republican former senators), Georgia remains a very red state, and Nunn wants voters to see her as a pragmatic, upbeat sort who is able to bridge the partisan divide. The ad also does not mention Nunn's party affiliation.

Indeed, the ad itself strikes a strongly positive tone, which the campaign likely hopes will contrast well with the attacks and cries of doom coming from the fairly heated and crowded GOP primary unfolding on the other side.

Watch it above.
