First Lady Michelle Obama turns 49 today!
Like a fine wine, our beloved FLOTUS' style seems only to improve with age. As her husband's political career emerged in the mid-aughts, so did Michelle, who soon began to steal the sartorial spotlight with her bevy of sharp J.Crew pencil skirts and full-on glamour gowns.
Mrs. Obama favors designs both trendy and timeless. Hallmarks of her signature style include pattern and color, and Michelle manages to look ladylike and strong simultaneously. "She's classy without being overstated," says HuffPost's own Josh Zepps.
The first lady has forged friendships with current, forward-thinking designers like Jason Wu, Thakoon, and Tracy Reese. She endorses fast fashion. She outfit repeats. She's just like us! (Okay, just go with it.)
So, Michelle, HuffPost Style wishes you the happiest of birthdays. Thank you for being a fashion inspiration! We embrace you with strong arms.
Click through our slideshow below to see 49 of Mrs. O's finest fashions. (It was a challenge to narrow them down!) And for even more FLOTUS love, be sure to watch our own Ellie Krupnick speak more on Michelle's style on HuffPost Live after the slides.
