The Best Moments From Michelle Obama's 'Celebration Of Design'

We'll chalk up not receiving an e-vite to the "Celebration of Design" event at the White House on Wednesday to some sort of computer glitch. Nonetheless, we did get to live vicariously through Michelle Obama and her guests, such as fashion designers and executives like Diane Von Furstenberg, Naomi Campbell and Eva Chen and 150 students, thanks to Instagram.

Attendees snapped photos in front of iconic portraits (hello, Jackie O) of FLOTUS' fabulous dress (designed by one of the students) and of each other mingling at the event. Needless to say, the whole thing was pretty envy-inducing.

The best part of all, however, is arguably the reason she held the event in the first place: to give students interested in pursuing a career in fashion the opportunity to attend workshops and rub elbows with some of the biggest names in the business. “Fashion is about so much more than just a pretty pair of pumps or the perfect hemline. For so many people across the country, it is a calling, it is a career, and it’s a way they feed their families," she told the crowd, according to WWD.

Here are some of our favorite moments from the Celebration of Design / Fashion EDU event:
