Michelle Obama Stuns In Blue Gown At Kennedy Center Honors (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Michelle's Prettiest Dress Yet?

Michelle Obama got tangled up in blue to join her husband and a host of cultural A-listers to celebrate the arts at the Kennedy Center Honors last night.

The awards are the highest honor our country gives to artists and culture-makers, and we have to say: we think Michelle should also get an award for her sublime sense of style.

The FLOTUS was a stunning vision in blue, wearing a custom Vera Wang strapless tulle gown. And it was the detail on the dress that took her style to a blue-ribbon finish, with accentuating bias drape and a layered skirt with feathered organza accents.

Michelle polished off the look with a braided updo and drop earrings. The color reminded us of that iconic 2010 state dinner dress designed by Peter Soronen, but we think the silhouette of this Vera Wang is simpler and sleeker. Gorgeous!

The cobalt Vera Wang was a return to color for Mrs. O, who decorated the White House tree this weekend in black and white (although maybe she was matching her outfit to beloved First Dog Bo?

The POTUS and FLOTUS were in attendance to fete the five Kennedy Center Honors winners: Meryl Streep, pop singer Neil Diamond, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Broadway singer Barbara Cook and jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins. Other glamorous ladies who walked the red carpet include Sarah Jessica Parker, Emily Blunt (who dripped with Neil Lane jewelry) and Diane Sawyer.

"By expressing themselves, they help us learn something about ourselves," President Obama told the audience, with regard to the honorees, at the ceremony. "They make us laugh. They move us to tears. They bring us together, and they push the boundaries of what we think is possible. And each of them has been blessed with an extraordinary gift. Tonight, we thank them for sharing that gift with us."

Also in attendance was Hillary Clinton, who the AP reports flew home for 36 hours between visits to Myanmar and Germany to celebrate the honorees over the weekend. Clinton showed no signs of jet lag, though, as she greeted honorees in a pale blue and gold dress with matching bolero jacket.
