Cop Gives Pizza To Homeless Man, Goes Beyond Call Of Duty In Best Way

"Sometimes we all just need a little help."

This officer served up a slice of compassion.

Officer Jason Deaton of the Middletown Division of Police in Ohio recently gave pizza and soda to a homeless man who had been "sleeping on the side of the road." A photo capturing the compassionate gesture was posted to the police department's Facebook page last week and shared with a message, calling on others to spread the kindness.

"Sometimes we all just need a little help," the post read. "Do us a favor, be kind to each other, take some time today and pay it forward. You never know what someone may be going through."

The post has amassed more than 3,000 likes and over 2,300 shares since -- a testament to Deaton's generosity.

The act moved the division's Police Chief Rodney Muterspaw.

"Proud of our staff," Muterspaw wrote on the police's Facebook page. "They truly go above and beyond."

While Deaton's deed is certainly admirable, Muterspaw said that officers are no strangers to lending a helping hand, The Hamilton-Middletown Journal reported. He told the outlet that the officers have bought Christmas presents for families, delivered food during the holidays, and given rides to the homeless.
