Friends are friends, right up to the point they move in with you. Then, they're less friends and more a Skinnerian experiment in how long one can accommodate one's life to the demands of another before the psyche fractures permanently. In the based-on-real-life comedy Fred & Vinnie, comedian and actor Fred Stoller (Everybody Loves Raymond, Seinfeld) brings amiable, agoraphobic friend Vinnie (Angelo Tsarouchas) into his home, and discovers the man's passive-aggressive demeanor and obsessive-compulsive behavior doesn't quite sync with the responsibilities of a show-business professional. Written by Stoller and directed by Raymond writer/producer Steve Skrovan, the film's at once darkly funny and genuinely empathetic, a knowing examination of neuroses in conflict.
