Eric Cantor's Unofficial Rival Dukes It Out With Fox News

A self-described Democratic rival to Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) took his "war" against Fox News straight to the network on Thursday.

In an interview with "On The Record w/ Greta Van Susteren," congressional candidate Mike Dickinson (D) duked it out with the TV host over his critical comments surrounding the network's coverage. Back in March, Dickinson proclaimed that he would "not rest" on his efforts to fight the tea party and Fox News, among others.

Van Susteren got right to work in challenging that claim, asking Dickinson "OK, why do you hate me?"

"Well, I have a problem with all of Fox News," Dickinson responded.

"No, what about me?" Van Susteren pushed back. "I'm Fox News. I'm trash, apparently. What's the problem with me?"

"I don't have a problem you personally," Dickinson said. "I have a problem with the company you work for. I think the facts are misrepresented. Every day is an attack on Obama."

UPDATE (2:20 p.m. ET): Mediaite reported Friday that Dickinson missed the deadline Thursday to run as a Democrat against Cantor. A source told the outlet that Dickinson told the nominating committee at “last minute” that he was not filing, and no other Democrats decided to do so against Cantor.

This article has been updated throughout to reflect the status of Dickinson's candidacy.
