Mike Huckabee Takes Bible Verse Way Out Of Context In Reaction To Gay Marriage Rulings

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) took to Twitter to react to the Supreme Court's rulings on gay marriage Wednesday, leaving some scratching their heads.

The court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional and left for dead California's Proposition 8. Huckabee, a former pastor, turned to his religion in his response to the decisions:

"Jesus wept," found in the book of John, is famous because it is the shortest verse in the Bible, but the verse has nothing to do with gay marriage. The verse explains Jesus' reaction to the death of Lazarus, one of his followers who the Bible says Jesus goes on to resurrect.
