In a post on his website Tuesday, Huckabee mentioned how at the Canadian Parliament building, where the shooting took place, some members "barricaded themselves in a room, broke off flagpoles and stood around the door, ready to impale anyone who burst in with the sharp end of the flagpoles." Huckabee then mentioned Canada's Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers, who is credited with firing multiple shots and killing the gunman.
"So if you’re keeping score, once again: a would-be mass murderer who might have wiped out half the Canadian government was not stopped by sharpened flagpoles. He was stopped by a good guy with a gun," Huckabee wrote.
The former presidential contender then went on to ask readers where they "stand on the Obama administration's efforts to implement gun control laws."
