Mike Isabella's New Georgetown Restaurant: Bandolero Interior Sketches Released (PHOTOS)

What Will Mike Isabella's New Restaurant Look Like?

WASHINGTON -- Restaurateur Jonathan Umbel's new project with "Top Chef" star Mike Isabella, Bandolero, is finally starting to come into focus.

Tuesday morning, architecture and design firm Streetsense released preliminary sketches of the eatery's Day of the Dead-inspired interior.

Back when news broke last month that Umbel would open Bandolero in the space previously inhabited by his former property Hook, which closed following a fire in June, Umbel hinted that he'd be making a 180 degree turn from Hook, in both decor and dining options.

Now we know what that means. According to a release, the space will be outfitted with "cemetery gates, tequila crates, reclaimed wood, mismatched furniture, and creative lighting schemes that provide a candlelit glow." All this will work to achieve a "dark, crowded, hip, high-energy, and fun" environment.

The menu will feature twists on traditional Mexican fare, including salsas, guacamoles, ceviches, tacos, vegetables and "carbons," some with untraditional fillings such as duck and goat meat.

The restaurant, located at 3241 M St. NW, hopes to become a fixture on the Georgetown nightlife scene while also appealing to the late-night appetites of nearby college students.
