Since joining Essence magazine's staff over 30 years ago, Mikki Taylor has been dedicated to the business of empowering black women. It's that legacy that has made her an iconic figure in the world of beauty and style while earning her a special place in the hearts of many -- including ours.
As Essence's editor-at-large, Mikki plays a tremendous role in planning events and special projects, such as Essence Festival, the annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon and the first-ever Essence Upfront event, which took place on Thursday.
We were lucky enough to catchup with the eternally chic editor/author recently for an episode of "Style In The Wild," our all-things-fabulous video series, to chat about her impressive career, working with an endless list of icons (Oprah, Beyoncé and Michelle Obama, to name a few) and her advice for others who are trying to live their best lives (which might involve white water rafting).
