"Emily's lie totally worked and I finally got to have sex with Kyle," says Miley Cyrus in a voiceover as her mother, played by Demi Moore, stares at an open condom wrapper glued to the page of her daughter's diary, in the upcoming film "LOL: Laughing Out Loud."
Cyrus stars as a rebellious teenager in a movie that practically screams, "I'm not Hannah Montana anymore." The film also marks the 19-year-old's first on-screen love scene as her character, Lola, loses her virginity on an impromptu trip to Paris.
In a clip from the film, to be released later this year, Cyrus is seen in bed with a male co-star one minute, kissing another the next, and even puckering up to a female friend.
The former Disney star seems eager to let people know she's an adult, even if she's still playing a teenager. "It's pretty gnarly," Cyrus told Reuters. "It is about a daughter who is involved with all the wrong kids, doing drugs, failing school, but the mother has her on this perfect pedestal. I just fell in love with the story."
There's no doubt that Cyrus can relate to her character and understands the pressure to live up to other people's expectations.
"I had been wanting to get out of what people think as the obvious choice for me to do next." she said. "It was so freeing to not be, like 'Alright, I'm happy!" and getting to be real and working with life's real emotions. People are so used to me playing the happy girl."
