Miley Cyrus Is Wearing Doc Martens, So Is Grunge Back? (PHOTOS)

Exhibit A: Miley's boots.

Recently we've spotted trendsetters like Miley Cyrus and Rumer Willis out and about wearing combat boots. The appearance of Doc Martens, which we haven't seen since the days of Courtney Love, Nirvana and all things '90s, has us wondering if grunge is on its way back. Grunge, a subgenre of alternative music marked by bands like Pearl Jam, had its heyday in Seattle in the 1990s and Marc Jacobs brought the trend to the fashionable set with his legendary 1992 collection for Perry Ellis which featured models like Naomi Campbell wearing thermals and skullcaps. Now we're seeing stylish gals like Jessica Alba wearing the stomp-worthy shoes and model Agyness Deyn has designed a pair of boots for Dr. Martens, while designers like Dries Van Noten marched flannels down their spring 2013 runways. So is it time to pull out our plaids and black nail polish and pluck out our eyebrows?

Maybe we don't need to go that far. Perhaps these boot-scooting beauties are just seeking comfort and wearability rather than teetering platform heels (we can understand that). Or maybe they're balancing out the sweetness of a dress or the sexiness of a short hemline with the utilitarian boots. Whatever the case, we will be sure to stay out of their way, lest they smoosh our shiny new pedicures with their footwear.

Here, 18 stars try out the grunge trend and have us considering putting away our stilettos.
