Miley Cyrus Gets Rescue Pig From PETA As A 20th Birthday Present

PETA Rescues A Pig In Miley Cyrus' Honor

In celebration of the singer's 20th birthday and her continued public support for rescue animals and cruelty-free initiatives, PETA has sponsored a rescue to pig to honor Miley Cyrus.

"PETA knew that sponsoring a rescued pig was the perfect birthday present for a young woman who spends so much time encouraging others to help animals," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said via E! News. "From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place."

The pig, named Nora, is a resident at Kindred Spirits Sanctuary, a farm in Ocala, Fla., that provides refuge to abused or neglected animals. When "Hannah Montana" received the news and a picture of the pig, she was extremely grateful.

“Thank you so much for saving Nora in honor of my bday,” she tweeted PETA. “oh my pigggggyyyyy! She is so cute I can hardly stand ittttttt!!!!”

Besides PETA's gift, fans also got together and donated to two charities supported by Cyrus — the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Saving SPOT! Dog Rescue. "y'all topped it again," she told her 10.5 million Twitter followers. "best bday present by far!"

In addition to Nora the pig, this year PETA has also sponsored a bull named Baldwin Thomas for Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas' nuptials and a rescued calf named Peter for Anne Hathaway's wedding.
