This Military Family's Clever Christmas Card Puts Things Into Perspective

Our hearts go out to servicemembers and military families who are apart this year!

We all know military families are resilient, but one Air National Guard family has proven to be especially resourceful, too.

Even though Staff Sergeant Joshua Baugh was deployed to Kuwait last Christmas, his wife, Katrina, still wanted to include him in a family photo on their holiday card.

Her clever solution was as heartwarming as it is bittersweet:

Joshua was deployed for six months last year, but like many military families, it was not the first time the Baughs have had to be apart for holidays. Six years ago, Joshua did a year-long tour in Korea, missing out on his daughter Tegan's first Christmas.

Thankfully, the family is all together and home in St. Augustine, Florida for this Christmas, a small blessing that is not lost on Katrina.

"We are so happy to have him home with us this year," she told HuffPost. "The holidays are so much more meaningful when we are all together."

Katrina's photoshop skills went viral recently after the Facebook page "Our Military Love Story" shared the photo. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming, Katrina says, but she also knows many other military families are still missing someone this year.

"My heart is with everyone this year that has a loved one deployed," she said.
