At the beginning of every year, we try to start anew. Why wait? End the year with an early bang and ride smoothly into 2014. There's procrastination. Then there's nothing like getting a head start.

According to Usa.gov, some New Year's resolutions are popular year after year. We tend to forget long-term management is key. Whether it's saving money or taking a trip, motive to do something better to better you.

Here are some ideas to put forth daily in December until we flip the calendar page.

Meditate in the morning
I bought a traveling yoga mat to take with me earlier this year. I've found whenever I commit even five quiet minutes concentrating and breathing, it really sets the tone for the day. Stretch away the stress that tends to gather around shoulders and hips.

Put the phone down

A couple hours away and alone can do you some good. The first thing I do when I open my eyes should not be to check Instagram!

Write it down
I used to preface a lot of things with "I don't want to jinx it, but... " Well, there's something to say about the power of positive thinking. At the least, the written word will acknowledge you tried to get to your goal. Don't be afraid to say something out loud and dream big.

Here's to counting down to 2014!
