Reason #4156 why Mindy Kaling needs to be our best friend? Her amazing body confidence.

In an interview with Vogue released this week, the writer, creator and star of "The Mindy Project" and bestselling-author of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? spoke about how she handles body insecurity and the pressure to be thin.

"There’s a whole list of things I would probably change about myself," she told interviewer Sandra Ballentine. "For example, I’m always trying to lose fifteen pounds. But I never need to be skinny. I don’t want to be skinny. I’m constantly in a state of self-improvement, but I don’t beat myself up over it.”

Kaling also talked about her love of dressing up and her willingness to experiment: “It’s really tempting not to take chances. But I don’t want to be fearful. I don’t want my tombstone to say, she hid her imperfections well on the red carpet.”

This is not the first time Kaling has shared her body image wisdom. In September 2013, she told Parade magazine that she refuses to let expectations about what women in Hollywood should look like affect her sense of self-worth:

I always get asked, "Where do you get your confidence?" I think people are well meaning, but it's pretty insulting. Because what it means to me is, "You, Mindy Kaling, have all the trappings of a very marginalized person. You're not skinny, you're not white, you're a woman. Why on earth would you feel like you're worth anything?"

Here's hoping Kaling continues to speak out about body image -- and inspiring us all.
