The Long Road and Short Step from Mississippi 1963 to Ferguson 2015

How Much Racial Progress Have We Really Made?

One of the inspirations for "The HuffPost Show" is a 53-year-old TV program called "That Was The Week That Was" -- a groundbreaking series that blended music, comedy, conversation and frequently pointed satire.

For example, in 1963, a civil rights protestor marching from Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi, was gunned down on the side of the road. Three days later, "That Was The Week That Was" featured a brutally satiric musical number inspired by the killing. Unfortunately, 52 years later, the racial injustice remains painfully relevant today.
