Like a Broken Record, House Continues Its Obsession With Attacking Women's Health Care

If anti-choice politicians are focused on creating jobs and growing our economy, they sure have a funny way of showing it.

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted for the 33rd time to invalidate the Affordable Care Act, President Obama's landmark health-reform law.

This vote was a vote against improving women's access to maternity care, against covering birth control without a copay, against allowing young adults to stay on their parents' insurance plans until age 26, and for letting insurance companies continue discriminating against women.

Even though the Supreme Court recently upheld the law, anti-choice politicians just can't get over their obsession with attacking women's access to basic health care.

And their attacks are not just limited to trying to repeal the health-reform law. Three stand-alone anti-choice bills could soon come up for a vote in the House:

Meanwhile, anti-choice politicians in state legislatures are pushing a kitchen sink of attacks on women's freedom and privacy.

Mississippi enacted a law designed specifically to force the state's lone abortion provider to close its doors. (Fortunately, a federal judge has temporarily blocked this law from taking effect.) And in Michigan, the anti-choice leadership of the state House silenced a pro-choice lawmaker for saying "vagina" during debate over an anti-choice bill.

If anti-choice politicians are focused on creating jobs and growing our economy, they sure have a funny way of showing it.

The good news is that we have a strong champion of choice in President Barack Obama. His veto pen is our safeguard against anti-choice attacks becoming federal law. But that only highlights the vast difference between the president and former Gov. Mitt Romney.

We may not be able to see Mitt Romney's tax returns, but we can see his anti-choice agenda.

Gov. Romney has vowed to repeal the health-care law in its entirety, "get rid of" Planned Parenthood, and overturn Roe v. Wade.

He also voiced his support for extreme "personhood" measures, which would outlaw abortion—even in cases of rape and incest.

In fact, the more Americans learn about Gov. Romney's anti-choice agenda, the less likely they are to vote for him.

So spread the word, talk to your friends, and make sure we keep pro-choice President Obama in the White House this November.

If we don't, that broken record of anti-choice attacks is only going to get much, much louder.
