Moda Operandi, Met Gala Team Up To Sell Clothes From The Red Carpet The Morning After

Moda Operandi To Sell Met Gala Red Carpet Dresses The Morning After

Moda Operandi carved out a niche in the e-commerce fashion world by making runway looks available for purchase months before they hit stores. Now the retailer is doing one better by making red carpet looks available for purchase mere hours after they walk down red carpet.

As the sponsor of the 2013 Met Gala, Moda Operandi has partnered with several designers to enable customers to buy select looks worn on the Met Gala red carpet. On May 7, the morning after the big event, dresses by Balmain, Anthony Vacarello, Delpozo, Rodarte, Nina Ricci and Wes Gordon worn by the stars will go on sale at modaoperandi.com. (No spoilers as to who will be wearing the selected looks on May 6.)

"Events like the Met Gala offer some of the most spectacular fashion moments because they inspire experimentation,” Moda Operandi co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo said in a statement. "We are thrilled to be able to provide women with access to the fashions from one the world’s most thrilling red carpet events."

And if you don't have thousands of dollars to cough up for a Balmain dress, you can still get in on the action: Moda Operandi will be one of the sites live-streaming the Met Gala red carpet. Also, on May 2, the retailer will release a punk-themed capsule collection including gear by Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood and Dolce & Gabbana.

And if all of that doesn't get you psyched for the big Costume Institute Ball, a.k.a. the Met Gala, we don't know what will. Will you be watching the livestream with us on May 6?
