Wrong place, wrong time.

A mother and her two children were caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting in Kansas City recently, thankfully escaping injury, CBS New York reported Monday.

In the segment above, the station notes that the children are ages 9 and 5. While police believe the gunman was aiming for a parked car out of the dashcam’s view, the car was hit by the gunfire.

The mother, who was not identified, described one of her sons’ reactions to KSHB: “He told me, ‘Mommy we’re going to die! Mommy, move! and I couldn’t move because we had a car ahead of us,” she said in Spanish.

A Kansas City police spokesman told outlets that investigators hope the footage of the Feb. 27 incident, published by Daily Chase, will lead to an arrest. There were no injuries reported, according to the Kansas City Star.
