Morrissey Tour: Singer Cancels Dates To Receive Medical Treatment (UPDATED)

Morrissey Cancels Tour Dates Over Illness

Continuing his ongoing medical treatment, Morrissey has canceled two of his upcoming tour dates.

Originally scheduled to perform in Las Vegas on Feb. 9 and Phoenix on Feb. 10, Morrissey has canceled the shows to receive medical attention.

"Morrissey is currently undergoing treatment for a bleeding ulcer and Barrett's esophagus," a rep for Morrissey said to Billboard. "Morrissey thanks everyone concerned for their well wishes during this time and hopes for a speedy recovery."

The Smiths alum canceled several shows earlier this year when a trip to the hospital resulted in a diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus, a disorder affecting the lining of the esophagus.

While he had hoped to continue his tour in Las Vegas on February 9, a post on Morrissey's Facebook page now announces that the tour will "resume as scheduled in El Paso at Tricky Falls on Feb 12."

UPDATE:
After canceling his Feb. 12 El Paso show, as well as concerts in Austin, Pharr, Beaumont, and Dallas, Morrissey announced that his tour would resume in Denver on Feb. 21. However, Morrissey has now canceled the Feb. 21 show. Citing a need for additional rest, he also canceled his Feb. 22 show in Salt Lake City and Feb. 24 show in San Francisco. A post on Morrissey's official Facebook page reads, "Morrissey is currently undergoing treatment for a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus. These shows are in the process of being rescheduled immediately and all patrons are encouraged to hold on to their tickets as the new dates will be announced shortly. Morrissey thanks everyone concerned for their well wishes and looks forward to getting back on the road."
