The Most Generous Cities In America Aren't Where You'd Think (INFOGRAPHIC)

The Most Generous City In America Is...

There are many ways to define generosity, but according to the DIY mavens at Craftsy, there's one true indicator of a person's propensity to give -- their craftiness, of course.

In a survey of some 10,000 "makers" in over 700 cities across the country, Craftsy tracked the frequency of and likelihood of gift giving (especially handmade ones), landing on Manchester, NH as the most generous place. Port St. Lucie, FL; Spokane, WA; Worcester, MA; and Virginia Beach, VA rounded out the top five. But it was San Juan, Puerto Rico who turned out to create the most handmade projects with seven per month.

They aren't your usual suspects on the altruism index as a survey conducted earlier this year by NerdWallet revealed. In their list -- which factored in volunteer rates, number of hours volunteering and financial contributions -- Provo, Ogden and Salt Lake City, UT came out on top.

Take a look at Craftsy's top 10 in the infographic below and visit their blog at Craftsy.com for the full list.
