There are so many superfoods, it feels like a new one pops up everyday ― and that’s not exactly a bad thing. Superfoods are fruits, vegetables and seeds that are dense in nutrients that can help improve health and wellbeing.

However, some reign supreme over others. In the U.S., there are nearly 250,000 monthly Google searches for superfoods like avocado, kale, turmeric, blueberries, cauliflower and coconut, according to Search Laboratory, a global search engine marketing firm.

Searches for specific superfoods varied by city. Los Angeles and Portland take the lead in the average number of searches for turmeric, a great anti-inflammatory that’s known to ease upset stomach. New Yorkers searched for bulgur, a grain, and both Seattle and Washington had the highest average number of searches for the superfood standby kale.

According to the research, Portland appeared in the top 10 cities searching each superfood, making Portland the most superfood-hungry area in the nation. (What can we say? Sometimes city stereotypes really are true.)
