Motorcycle Thief Shot By Cop As Victim Captures GRAPHIC VIDEO Of Armed Robbery In Brazil

GRAPHIC VIDEO: Motorcycle Thief Shot Down By Officer

A biker in Brazil had a horrifying encounter with a motorcycle thief, who waved a gun in his face -- and at his camera, which was recording right up until the thief was shot several times.

In the graphic video posted by LiveLeak, suspect Escarante Leonardo Santos can be seen hopping off his accomplice's motorcycle and pointing a .38-caliber revolver at the victim. The victim gets off his bike and appears to throw his hands in the air.

But a man believed to be an officer -- who just happens to be near the scene -- gets out of his vehicle and fires at Santos, who tries to flee. He crumples as the officer's bullets rip through his leg.

Santos' accomplice was able to flee while Santos was on the ground.

The terrifying incident unfolded on Saturday in Sao Paulo, according to the New York Daily News.

Santos was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery. His condition is unknown.

"Preliminary analysis of the video suggests that the action of the military police was legitimate and correct, with the observance of police techniques," Brazil's Civil Police wrote in a statement. "[It] clearly shows that the robber pointed his gun towards the police officer. The actions demonstrated commitment to public cause, defending society from violent criminals."
