When we think of mountain homes, naturally images of cozy cabins, lots of wood and warm interiors come to mind. And maybe Grizzly Adams sitting out on the front porch. But for Reddit user Mr_Miner, who built a very large home near the Deer Valley area in Utah, his vision couldn't have been any more different.
Sleek elements like slate tiles, glass walls and stainless steel run throughout this "mountain modern" home. The color palette of cool grey and beige only adds to the slightly chilly feel of the house.
Admittedly, the owner did incorporate a few recycled materials. "The exposed beams … are non-load-bearing and came from a junk yard in Utah," he explained. "They were formerly used by the army for railroad trusses."
And perhaps in a nod to one of the more classic cabin finishes, the owner installed a antler chandelier ... albeit translucent glass.
