Mr. Rogers Spin-Off Series Will Begin In 2012

Mr. Rogers Gets A Spin-Off

Mr. Rogers' legacy is about to be extended further with a new animated spin-off of "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood," the Wrap reported. The series, called "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood," will center around the characters from the Neighborhood of Make Believe, and specifically the child of Daniel Tiger, Mr. Rogers' soft, shy puppet companion. If you're having trouble remembering him, check out this sweet video where Daniel Tiger wonders if he's a mistake.

PBS explains the series further:

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is based on the next generation of the original Mister Roger's Neighborhood characters. All of the original characters have grown up and now have preschoolers of their own. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood stories revolve around a four-year-old Daniel Tiger, son of the original Daniel Tiger, and his preschool friends.

As an animated series, it's sure to differ greatly from the calm wisdom Mr. Rogers offered, but it will deliver its lessons similarly to the original series, weaving them into music. "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" is set to launch in the fall of 2012.
