The Rubin Report Tackles TLC's 'My Husband's Not Gay' Controversy

The Pros And Cons Of 'My Husband's Not Gay'

Rubin Report host Dave Rubin sounded off on the controversy surrounding TLC's "My Husband's Not Gay," a new special which focuses on a group of Mormon men who say they have chosen to marry women even though they are attracted to other men.

Rubin minced few words when it came to his stance on the show, while guests Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks and Turner Classic Movies' Ben Mankiewicz offered slightly differing views.

"I actually don't mind this reality show as much as others, because I think that it does shine a light on a really serious issue," Kasparian said. "I actually got really upset at the women who know that their husband is gay and they're enabling this denial of who they really are by marrying them ... They're not doing the right thing."

Pointing to stigmas that exist around homosexuality and masculinity, Mankiewicz added, "I believe it is sincere, and I believe they think they can do it."

At the time this story was published, an online petition calling for the cancellation of "My Husband's Not Gay" had drawn over 90,000 supporters.
