For those of you who have only recently started following my quest to learn the equivalent of a BA in philosophy in just one year using only MOOCs and other free learning resources, this effort is being documented here at Huffington Post as well as on my Degree of Freedom website.
Previous HuffPo entries outlined the courses I've chosen to take for my freshman year (which ran from January through March) and sophomore year (which finishes up next week). The formula I'm using to mirror the requirements of an actual liberal arts degree program can be found here. And today, I wanted to let readers know about what courses will be starting next week when I enter the second half of the project.
The choice of courses for junior year is being driven by the need to focus on my major (which means finding and taking more advanced philosophy courses). And since these are harder to come by in the MOOCiverse (at least for now), I'll be doing some experimentation this quarter with free learning modalities I've not tried yet, including curated content from Saylor.org and a self-constructed course based on MIT Open Courseware.
