The pension crisis still has no solution, and as each day passes, the Illinois taxpayers are the ones who pay the piper -- literally. It's cost taxpayers $21 billion since 2000, and it's only getting worse. While some citizens cheered Governor Quinn's punishment of stopping lawmakers' pay until they come up with a solution and thought this would initiate, House Speaker Madigan and Senate President Cullerton filed a lawsuit against Quinn for their salaries instead.

A hot-topic issue for the 2014 Gubernatorial Race will be the state income tax rate, and all we can think is, "Will I have to pay more taxes?" This has generated a fiery debate between a Progressive income tax rate or the existing flat tax rate, and which option is better for Illinois?
