Every year, in North Myrtle Beach, a memorial event takes place on main street. It is focused on remembering those who lost their lives and gave their lives on September 11th, 2001. The entire city comes out to show their support for families who were affected, first responders who risked or gave their lives, and those who are still out there protecting us.
There is a parade of support by not only those who mourn the losses that took place on that horrific day, but also by the men and women that are still risking their lives each day in service of their fellow man. A moment of prayer and silence is acknowledged for those who died, and time is afforded to individuals who have words of condolence and comfort for us who are lucky enough to be alive today.
So many cities around the world show their respect each year for the americans who were lost on 9/11, but I would argue that only a handful do so as effectively as North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. You would have to be there to experience the full impact and power of the honor that is shown toward the innocent lives and brave responders who were lost on that day. All I can give you is the video above to capture, in some small way, the feelings that are felt by the people of North Myrtle Beach.
