'MythBusters' Face Slap VIDEO: Drunk Adam Savage Hit By Jamie Hyneman In Slow Motion

WATCH: Crazy Face Jiggles As Drunk 'MythBusters' Guy Slapped Hard

Had too much to drink? That's okay--a cold shower will sober you up. At least that's what many people believe. In fact, experts say that's just one of many myths about alcohol. Research shows that liver enzymes clear the stuff from the body at the rate of about three hours for every two drinks--and neither cold showers nor coffee, fresh air, or anything else can speed things up.

Of course, the "MythBusters" guys--Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage--didn't get famous by accepting expert opinion at face value. So they got blotto and tried several ways to sober up.

Dunking their heads in ice water didn't work. Neither did drinking black coffee.

How about getting slapped in the face? Adam gave that one a whirl, letting Jamie haul off and deliver a sharp blow to his cheek. They concluded that it was "plausible" that a face slap could boost sobriety.

But that conclusion was all but lost given the hysterical video sequence showing Adam's face absorbing Jamie's powerful blow. The super slow-motion clip--shot at about 1,000 frames per second and replayed at around 30 frames per second--is sobering evidence that even a young face can be distressingly jiggly.

How did it feel to be given such a hard slap? It was "less painful than you'd think," Adam told The Huffington Post in an email. "it hurt, but it went away quick. Like wasabi."

Jiggly bits not something you can chuckle about? Then check out the slo-mo sequence in which Adam's struggle to stay upright while running on a treadmill goes comically awry.

The video sequences were produced for a 2008 episode but have been getting big laughs in recent days as part of the "MythBusters: Behind The Myths" live stage show that Jamie and Adam have been touring with.

"MythBusters" airs on the Discovery Channel on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
