Naked Joggers Left Baby Alone On Beach For Hours, Police Say

The child was found covered in mosquito bites next to a Ford Explorer that was still running.

Deputies in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, have arrested a couple accused of leaving a 20-month-old baby alone on a beach while they went jogging naked.

The baby girl was found Tuesday morning on Holly Beach near a Ford Explorer that was still running, according to TheAdvertiser.com.

The man who found the girl, Chuck Pierson, told WWL.com that she was thirsty and covered with mosquito bites.

"I don't know what to say about that. I have kids myself," Pierson said. "I was somewhat upset and I would freak out if something like that happened to my kids."

The baby's parents weren't located until two hours later when they were spotted jogging naked on the beach about two miles away from their Ford Explorer, according to KPLC.com.

Cody Bourgeois, 32, and his wife, Monique, 35, were arrested and charged with child desertion and obscenity.

Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson told KTRE.com he believes the couple may have been abusing drugs. He also is considering upgrading the charges against the couple to second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

The baby is in the custody of her paternal grandmother, according to the Advocate.
