If House Minority Leader John Boehner is concerned he's developing a reputation as a crybaby, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whom he will soon succeed in the next legislative session, isn't doing him any favors.
In a recent interview with the New York Times, Pelosi spoke about Boehner's tendency to get emotional from time to time when it comes to tackling matters of policy.
"He is known to cry," explained the California Democrat, who was recently elected to lead her party once again when Congress returns in January. "He cries sometimes when we're having a debate on bills."
Pelosi went on to draw a distinction between herself and her Republican colleague.
"If I cry, it's about the personal loss of a friend or something like that," she said. "But when it comes to politics -- no, I don't cry. I would never think of crying about any loss of an office, because that's always a possibility, and if you're professional, then you deal with it professionally."
The remarks from the House Speaker came in response to a question about Boehner shedding tears on election night earlier this month when Republicans retook control of the House. HuffPost's Nick Wing reported on the waterworks at the time:
Boehner's emotions nearly got the best of him late Tuesday night, as he addressed news that the GOP had taken majority control of the House of Representatives with a quivered lip, a quavering voice and perhaps a few tears.

But that wasn't a newsflash for anyone who's followed John Boehner's tenure in Washington. Whether speaking on the House floor or receiving an award, it's no secret that the man who would be Speaker predisposed to showing off the waterworks.
