Apparently being an Academy Award nominated movie star and a household name doesn't guarantee you'll get chased down the street. Or at least that's the case for "The Impossible" actress Naomi Watts.

''I never get recognized on the street. I'm lucky that way," the 44-year-old Australian-Brit told W magazine, according to Virgin Media. "People see me as the dolled-up movie-star type on the red carpet, but in real life, I don't look anything like that. I blend easily into a crowd."

''My husband, Liev Schreiber, is really distinct, and quite often people push me aside to get to him," said Watts of her partner and "Salt" actor with whom she has two small children, Alexander and Samuel. "They'll say, 'Isn't that the guy...?' and list off all his credits. They will then ask, 'Can you take a photo of us?' They have no idea who I am.''

As it turns out, Watts not only prefers it this way, she's not a fan of the whole dressing up thing to begin with. "It's kind of endless hours that you have to put into [picking a dress for the Oscars], in terms of fittings and second fittings and more," Watts told E! last week. "That's why I love [Sundance]. You just slip in and out and it's no nonsense. I love that we can schlub around and not worry about frocks."

In the same interview, Watts also talked about her role as stay-at-home mom. "I just can't travel again right now because I did a lot of traveling last year," said the actress when asked about her filming schedule for "Queen of the Desert," opposite Jude Law and Robert Pattinson. "It's been a big year and it's time for me to be home with the kids."

You can see the famed (if unrecognizable) Watts in "Movie 43" which opens in theaters today, and in her upcoming portrayal of the late Princess Diana in the movie "Diana," due out later this year.
