The National Book Award shortlists for fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and young people's literature were announced this morning on "Morning Joe." This is the first year that finalists have been divided into longlists of 10 books, and shortlists of five books.
Winners will be announced on November 20, but for now you can peruse the finalists who made the cut, and have a look at our predictions for winners in each category:
