This Couple's High-Flying Proposal Is Not For The Faint-Of-Heart

This ecologist popped the question while amongst the Panama treetops.

Ecologist Kevin McLean planned to go to great heights to propose to his longtime boyfriend, Dan Aeschliman, while on a research trip in Panama. Little did McLean know, however, that Aeschliman had a few plans of his own.

As the heartwarming video above explains, McLean is a National Geographic "Young Explorer" and the recipient of a competitive research grant from the publication. As part of his studies on arboreal mammals, he sets camera traps on treetops. Since this would be the first time that Aeschliman would be joining him on a treetop expedition, McLean decided it would be the perfect time to pop the question.

Unbeknownst to McLean, Aeschliman had the exact same plan.

"Just as I was about to go into my little proposal, he surprised me and started proposing to me first," McLean said. "I definitely didn't think he was going to propose up there at the same time, but you know, I kept my composure and just let him go ahead."

Once Aeschliman finished asking his boyfriend to join him on an "adventure for the rest of our lives together," McLean followed up with his own high-flying proposal.

"He was like, 'And as a matter of fact, I also have something to ask you,'” Aeschliman recalled.

Can we get a collective "awwwwww"?
