2012 National Magazine Awards Finalists Announced

The American Society of Magazine Editors announced the finalists for the 2012 National Magazine Awards on Tuesday.

Magazines including The Atlantic, Esquire, Glamour, Harper's Magazine, Interview, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Vogue and more were also nominated. This year, three publications received their first-ever nomination: Country Living, The Fader, and Vice. Among all the finalists, New York and The New Yorker lead the pack with six nominations each.

New York was nominated in categories such as General Excellence and Essays and Criticism. The New Yorker was nominated in the same categories as well as Reporting, for its August 8th article titled "Getting bin Laden." New York was also nominated in the Single-Topic Issue category for its spread on the 10-year anniversary of the September 11th attacks, "The Encyclopedia of 9/11."
