LOOK: Zoo Baby Returns To Public View After Injury

Lincoln Park Zoo goers on Thursday got a special chance to be among the first visitors to see baby gorilla Nayembi since her recovery from an injury in February.

According to a press release from the Chicago zoo, Nayembi -- born last November -- was reintroduced this week to her father, the silverback gorilla Kwan, for the first time since winter. Nayembi had already reunited with her mother, Rollie, and two other members of the gorilla troop in private last month but Thursday marked her reintroduction to the public.

Nayembi was separated from the group and rushed into emergency surgery on Feb. 20 after she was found with serious cuts to her face. After extensive behind-the-scenes care, she began to recover.

Maureen Leahy, the zoo's curator of primates, said in a statement Nayembi is "doing remarkably well, and the careful reintroduction process has gone according to plan for all of them so far." She will continue to be closely monitored as part of the "delicate" process going forward.

But meanwhile, awwwwwww:

Welcome Back, Nayembi!
